Digging for Victory

Colin Ward, co-writer of the standard work on allotments, 'The Allotment: its landscape and culture' died on February 11th 2010 aged 85. Colin was a lifelong advocate and historian of grassroots self-organistion, mutual aid and 'anarchy in action'. Along with The Allotment, his books on the history of self-built housing and land ownership, sociable and ecological cities, childhood, schooling, town planning and tenant co-operatives are useful reading for anyone involved in transition initatives.
