The Health and Well Being group recently surveyed the people attending the film and social night at the Trades Club on the 19th of July 2011. The questionnaire asked following questions:-
- What positive heath provision do you think we have currently in Hebden Bridge?
- What services/ groups/ provision do you feel are missing?
- What is your vision of the future? What will the next 10, 20, 30 years look like in terms of our personal and social health and well being. How do you think our community can move forward in order to meet these challenges whilst being sustainable in meeting health needs and service delivery?
Gender M/F Age______ Practitioner? Y/N
The questionnaire was only completed by 20 people, and although useful it provides an insight it is impossible to use use this as a data set for developing a pro active agenda for health care provision. The survey so far equates to 0.3% of the total population in Hebden Bridge, so we are keen to hear from as many people as possible and of all ages.
If you would like to take part in the questionnaire please either email your response to
hbtt-health-group@googlegroups.com or leave a paper copy at the Hebden Bridge Times office.
So far the results suggest that Hebden Bridge has great health care provision, both state funded and private. However, the funding gap between the two needs to be closed to allow better access to the number of alternative and complimentary therapies available in the town.
The survey also suggested several improvements that could be considered, including:-
- A comprehensive directory of all health care providers has been suggested.
- Better disabled access to platform 1 at the train station.
- Better links between NHS services and alternative and complimentary practitioners.
- Reducing the cost of therapies so that more people can access them and/or GP support for these services.
These are only a few of the issues and suggestions which we have received, and many more will surely follow.
Thanks go to all those who took time to consider the above questions and complete the questionnaire, and don't forget we need more input if you haven't taken part so far.
